The County Labour Group of county councillors is backing an e-petition to continue the fight against the Tory county council’s proposals to cut the Fire and Rescue services in West Sussex by £1.6 million next year, and the devastating effect this is likely to have on the resilience of the service. As you may know Crawley is one of the very worst affected of all the fire stations, losing seven full-time fire fighters, all ten retained fire fighters and one of the station’s three fire engines. So this is a big issue for us for public safety in the Borough as well.
We would like to urge you to support the recently launched e-petition and join the campaign to stop the Tory leadership at the county council from doing this.
The link to the e-petition is below – please sign it ASAP!
Not only is this an important issue that is of deep concern to local residents, if the campaign can collect 3,000 West Sussex residents’ signatures, the county council will be obliged to listen to the petitioners’ calls at a future Full County Council meeting to reverse the cuts.
West Sussex Labour group are giving our wholehearted support to the lead petitioners, who are retired firefighters campaigning tirelessly for the safety and welfare of all residents in West Sussex.
Things you can also do:
1) Pass on this email request to your friends, family and local residents in your ward and in Crawley who you have on your email, and ask them to sign the e-petition, and to encourage them to pass the link to their family and friends to do so as well;
2) Arrange for the link to the epetition to be shared with your friends and followers on your Facebook and Twitter accounts, if you are on social media;
We hope you will be able to support this campaign and support our local firefighters. It’s a really worthy cause.
