CBC have been notified by Homes England that they have purchased the Ifield Golf Club land. Here is their wording:
‘I am writing to you to confirm that Homes England has acquired Ifield Golf Club on the
25th November 2020. As part of the acquisition, the Golf Club members voted to
support the surrender of their lease as part of the transaction to allow redevelopment.
Ifield Golf Club is a key part of our West of Ifield proposals and demonstrates one of
Homes England’s key missions which is to unlock land and to get more homes built
where they are needed. The acquisition will ensure we can build new homes that are
needed now and over the next few years subject to allocation in the Horsham Local
Plan and obtaining the necessary planning approvals.
As you will know from our ongoing discussions and pre-application meetings, part of
Ifield Golf Course is likely to be developed for a secondary school in the early phases
which will meet the much needed demand for educational provision in both Horsham
and Crawley. Homes England is working with the Department of Education to
accelerate the delivery of the secondary school which will be at the core of this
We will post more information as and when we get it to keep Crawley and Ifield residents up to date with latest developments.
8th December Update: one of our Ifield residents referring to the letter, above, from Homes England to CBC has pointed out that ‘It seems a bit misleading as it comes across as Ifield Golf Club sold the land and is quite happy with the situation .Ifield Golf club did not sell the land . In fact Ifield Golf Club LIMITED sold the land an entirely different company.
As the golf club is not surplus to requirements I thought I should make this clear ‘
I am happy to add this here as it seems to add some further clarity to the specifics of this transaction.
Cllr Peter Smith
Cabinet member for Planning and Economic Development
