The current time is challenging for everyone as we approach a year in the pandemic.
Pre-pandemic, our world was in complete contrast. It was often relentless, and we would complain about how fast time was flying. Companies were introducing work/home related well-being policies to tackle an imbalance in our lives. Many of us didn’t have enough time with our families, for our hobbies or even to exercise.
The pandemic has brought a lot of challenges and it has been tough! Personally, I have lost a dear friend in Councillor Raj Sharma who did so much for our community in Crawley. I also lost my job in aviation after twenty-one years which was tough. Crawley has been hit hard.
These experiences have highlighted the importance of wellbeing in my life, including personal and social wellbeing. They have also inspired me to step forward and offer to serve my community as a councillor, so I am proud to have been selected as the Labour candidate in Northgate and West Green.
Like many, I have learnt how to do things differently, moving classes online and teaching many free live sessions on Yoga and wellbeing via social media. I also set up my YouTube channel on Wellbeing to help my local community.
So, although, the pandemic has been one of the worst times we have faced, many of us have been afforded the luxury of time which was missing before. So I’m saying, if you can, invest in yourself – do something that you always wanted to do. For me, that’s about my passion for Yoga, Ayurveda, cooking and community work. I am now shifting my energy in this direction and hope you will join me!
Stay well and stay safe.
