Photo-id for Voting
Photo-id for Voting

Did you know that how we vote has been changed? It is no longer possible to just turn up to the polling station on Election day and cast your vote. Starting from this year’s May elections you need to bring some form of ‘Photo-id’ with you. There are quite a few different ways of doing this using, for example, your passport or your photo driving licence, but you must have this with you or you won’t be able to cast your vote. There are detailed rules about what photo-id you can use – so we have put together a simple guide which is available here: Voting with Photo-id

You can also check the rules on the Crawley Borough Council website here: Crawley Voting and Elections

It might be a good idea to check what paperwork you will need, especially if you need to get a ‘Voter Authority Certificate’.

And if you’re wondering why the Tory government have chosen to introduce this unnecessary restriction on how we vote (voted for by Henry Smith) just consider who is more likely to not have permitted documents…..

Don’t forget your Photo-id when you go out to vote in future!
