Save West of Ifield
Save West of Ifield

Save West Of Ifield campaign’s latest newsletter has been published. See all the latest information related to the activities going on that are hoping to stop Homes England’s development proposals for between 3,000 and 10,000 new homes right next to Crawley’s western boundaries.

The SWOI newsletter for June is now available (link below).

The SWOI campaign’s focus this time is new arguments against the extent of development in Horsham District and why it’s out of control and unsustainable:

  • Horsham’s population grew faster than any other local authority in Sussex or Surrey between 2011 and 2021, and at 11.8% was almost double the rate for England and Wales overall of 6.3%.  How can population growth of nearly 50% over 30 years be sustainable?
  • The south-east is suffering serious water stress, with massive shortfalls forecast for the future ‘driven by the need to address climate change and population growth’. This must be a strong argument against the government’s housing targets of 1,000+ a year for Horsham?

NOW is the time, following the change in control of Horsham District Council from the Tories to the Liberal Democrats, to write to the new group of Horsham Councillors and let them know your views – even if you’ve written before, now is an opportunity to influence the thinking of new councillors, and new leadership.
